Music Reflection #5 (9 August 2011)

Today is the second day of the singing assesment of a Western song. I did my assesment today but I coughed in the middle of the song and I wasn't able to continue it because of the shortness of my breath. This is because I haven't been really fit in the past few days however, I still have to do my assesment so I will redo it tomorrow. I want to change my song to "Tim McGraw" by Taylor Swift because it's a slower song so hopefully I will be able to sing well despite my conditions. I will rehease that song at home.

Music Reflection #4 (3 August 2011)

Today is the assesment day of singing a Western song. My favourite was Anti's, I think she has a really good voice. I haven't do my assesment so I'll be doing it next Tuesday. I was so nervous but good thing I didn't get my turn today. This gives me more time to rehearse at home to improve my performance.

Music Reflection #3 (2 August 2011)

Today Mr. Herry distributed 2 handouts about the 7th chords (major7, minor7, and diminished7) and he discussed it at the end of the class. I was able to follow the discussion because I'm familiar with it since I learned it before in my guitar course outside the school and at school itself during last year's music session. He also asked what song we will be singing next week. I will be singing the song "Bubbly" by Colbie Caillat while accompanying myself with the guitar and I will practice it at home for tomorrow's singing assesment.

Music Reflection #2 (27 July 2011)

Today Mr. Herry makes us sing our school song. Because most of the new students aren't familiar yet with our school song, Mr. Herry asked all of the old students to stand in front of the class and sing the song with pride. Mr. Herry doesn't let us read the lyrics while singing, but luckily, every one of us memorized the lyrics of our school song already. At first we sang badly because our voices were really soft but we improved towards the end. Then Mr. Herry introduced the song to the new students. I feel this is a bit useless for the old students but yet it is useful to the new students because they're gonna have to memorize it sooner or later. Mr. Herry then explained about the major scales. I will choose a song to sing for next week's assesment and rehearse it at home.

Music Reflection #1 (26 July 2011)

Today was the first music session in grade 10. There are a lot of new students in our music class that's why now we have 2 music classes in the tenth grade. Mr. Herry asked all of the new students to stand in front of the class then they are to introduce themselves. They must mention 3 things; their name, their previous school, where they live, and what instrument they play. Then, Mr. Herry wrote down the list of the 4 instrument groups; woodwind, piano, string, and guitar on the white board. I am listed in the guitar group because that was the instrument I chose. After that, mr. herry discussed about some of the assesments that we will be having this term and he also gave us a pop quiz about the music notation. I have no difficulty in doing it because I've learned it a couple of times before. I will choose a western music to sing nect week and I will rehearse it at home.
