My Practice #3

This is my practice on Tuesday, 15th of March 2011. I don't think I did that well since it is my first practice but I will keep practicing until I master these 2 octaves scales.

Music Reflection #17 (15 March 2011)

Today we only review the tonic triads and its inversions. We also watched some piano students practice their chord plays. I will practice the different major and minor chords and its conversions at home on my guitar so I will have more knowledge on this topic.
During instrument class, Mr John teaches us about the C major scale, D major scale, and E major scale. We have to do the 2 octaves scale. I learned the scales before but I didn't know how to make it 2 octaves. I will practice it at home so I can play it fluently soon.

Music Reflection #16 (9 March 2011)

Today we were announced the score of our singing assesment. I am happy I got 9 over 10. I am surprised though that some students whose voice is much better than mine got a lower mark. We were also given a quiz that tests our knowledge about classical music, popular music, scales, and the tonic triad. I think I did quite good on the quiz. I will learn more about the tonic triad at home because it is very essential in the making of pop music. I think it will be useful for next term since we will be making our own music composition.
We didn't do anything during instrument class today because we are done with our assesment. So we just relax and play whatever we want to play on the guitar.

Music Reflection #15 (8 March 2011)

Today is the day of our music practical assesment. The piano group went first, then the violin group go next, then guitar, then the flute. Actually, the guitar group is supposed to play before the violin group, however, after the last student of the piano group finish their assesment, we couldn't find Mr. John so the violin group goes first. The assesment is done alphabetically from Z to A because on the last assement which is the singing of a pop song assesment, it is done alphabetically from A to Z. I was the second last from the guitar group. As I was waiting for my turn, I am still unsure whether to play the first and second part of the song or just the first part of the song twice. I wanted to play the second part of the song as well because no one from the guitar group plays the second part of this song, however, the last time I practice the second part of the song, it didn't went so well. So I decided to play the first part of the song twice. But when I did the assesment and I just finish playing the first part of the song once, I was urged by myself to play the second part of the song. So I just go with my guts and even though I wasn't able to play the song perfectly, I think I did a good job. We have no instrument class today because the time wasn't enough.

My Practice #2

This is my practice on Monday, 7th of March 2011. I don't think I make any major improvements even though I practice a lot. Tomorrow is the practical assesment. I think I'm just going to play the first part of the song twice because I still can't get the second part right, however I will keep practicing tonight. If I can improve the second part of the song by tonight, I'm going to play it too during the assesment.

My Practice #1

This is my practice on Thursday, 3rd of March 2011. I think I did good on part 1 but the second part of the song is still a mess so I will concentrate on practicing the second part of the song.

Music Reflection #14 (2 March 2011)

Today we learned about the different kinds of 7th chord; dominant7th, major 7th and minor 7th. It is easy for me to follow since I just learned t in my guitar lesson last week. We were also told to post 2 videos of our practice in our blog. I am nervous for the assesment since I still can't play the second part of my song.

Music Reflection #13

I did nothing today during the theory class. I only watch my friends rehearse their classical music and because I did it last week, I don't have to do it again today. I only practice my song during the instrument class. I would also like to do more practice at home so I can do a good job on my assesment next week.

Music Reflection #12 (23 February 2011)

Today Mr Herry showed us some videos about the instruments we play; flute, guitar, violin and piano. I was inspired by the videos to be more committed in my practice. One person from every instrument group must do their rehearsal in front of the class.Esther represents the flute group, Calista represents the piano group, Melicia represents the violin group and I represent the guitar group. I think I didn't do that well because I was nervous. I was amused by Calista's playing of the piano. I know she learned piano since she was a little girl so I think her hard work and commitment in learning the instrument paid off.

Music Reflection #11 (22 February 2011)

Today we learned more about the composition of major scales and tonic triad. It is easy for me because I learned it before. The tonic triads are made of the first, third, and fifth note of the major scale.
For example:
C major scale: C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C
                       1- 2- 3-4- 5-6-7- 8
Tonic triad: C-E-G
                  1-3-5
                  E-G-C
                  3-5-1
                  G-C-E
                  5-1-3

Because I learned pop piano in the past, I was taught by my teacher about this earlier.

Mr. Herry gave us more time for the instrument class today because our practical assesment will be held next 2 weeks. I chose to play Romance De Amour because I am currently learning it in my guitar lesson. However I can only play the first part of the song, so I asked Mr. John to write down the second part of the song and he will give it to me tomorrow.
